For the last week, I have been struggling to really connect with a topic for my blog and finding the inspiration I needed to write it. Waiting for inspiration to come didn’t work either and I really needed to get a blog out, so I did what I do best, I found the inspiration I needed using certain tools. Funny enough, using the tools I am going to share with you are exactly what I needed to write this blog and what I have done to find inspiration and even sometimes motivation in the past. Usually, it is easy for me to get inspired once I have gotten myself motivated, but this time even though there was motivation to write; there was no inspiration as to what to write about! That was until I had a moment of clarity and used a couple of the following ways I am going to mention below that came up with this idea, and the rest, well, they’re from all the other times it has happened to me and what I have learned to do over the years. Having said that, you and many others can struggle with the same thing - when it comes to inspiration, so I decided to write a blog and help you out today. So - let’s get started.
1. Ask for help!
One thing I like to do is to ask God, my spiritual team, the universe and my higher self to help me get inspired. Believe it or not it does work, all you have to do is ask whatever you believe in for some help and some inspiration on whatever topic you want inspiration on. Try to be as specific as you can to get the best outcome.
2. Manifest it!
Similar to asking for help - you need to work on being as specific as possible. Work on manifesting some inspiration by first identifying exactly what you want inspiration on and write it out, and set an intention for the inspiration you are seeking. Also, make sure any statement is in the present tense and starts with I have, I feel, or I am, preferably and end with – now - it is done it is done, it is done.
You can write down the following for example: Creator/whatever you believe in, I request that I have all the inspiration to write this blog now, thank you, it is done, it is done, it is done. You can make a list and ask for more than one intention.
For example: I have all the inspiration I need to come up with 25 ideas/topics now, I have inspiration now, I feel inspired now, I have all the inspiration I need to create something wonderful now.
3. Visualize & Feel
Now the third technique would usually be a part of the second method however, you can do this on its own as well without writing anything and it can help. It has definitely worked for me on a number of occasions. All you need to do is close your eyes and imagine that you had all the inspiration you needed, or you can imagine that you finally have the inspiration you need and you have completed whatever task you wanted to complete. Surprisingly, you can get a lot of inspiration by going through completing something you needed inspiration for - it can really help. You can also take it a step further and really identify how good it feels to have the inspiration you need and for whatever you need inspiration for to be completed. Really embrace all the good feelings that come your way and allow that feeling to expand until you can feel it in every part of your body. This will help you feel inspired but also help your manifestation for getting the inspiration you desire to come even faster.
Another method when it comes to visualising is imagining your body being filled up from the top of your head with white light and the white light being poured into you all the way to the bottom of your feet as inspiration. So - you are imagining yourself being filled up with all the inspiration you need, and you can allow this to take as long as you want.
4. Meditation
Believe it or not meditation can not only help you get the inspiration you were looking for, but it can also help you enhance the last three strategies I gave you – by doing the last three methods in meditation they can really help the effectiveness you receive the inspiration you desire. Being in a theta state, which is a very relaxed state, similar to how you feel right before you go to sleep and before you wake up can be even more effective. You can definitely do the last three methods while you’re just waking up but not fully conscious in the morning and if you want to do it before bed, you can set an intention to receive some inspiration in your dreams. You can also find theta brain wave meditations online if you want to do it during the day. You can do meditation focusing on the three techniques I talked about already, but you can also participate in other meditations such as breathing meditation, observing your thoughts in meditation or any activity that you find meditative like writing, painting or walking and being fully present within your surroundings.
5. Just start
Now, this was going to be all about writing, but I realised this can apply to anything when it comes to inspiration. Believe it or not, starting on whatever it is you want inspiration about can really help. It even happened with me today writing this blog – I was supposed to be writing this blog in a completely different way, but as I was writing, I kept getting the inspiration I needed. My blog now flows even better than it was going to before I started, and I got even better ideas than I had originally written down. Try it with anything! Instead of starting and focusing on what you don’t know like the inspiration you need, focus and start with what you do know, once you get started on that you will be surprised what inspiration and ideas come your way. Be willing to start and get into the flow of things before you say this doesn’t work, sometimes it takes a minute or two and you getting into what you are doing before you get the inspiration you are looking for. Nevertheless, just starting can really help; it really just depends on how blocked you are.
6. Have a discussion or a conversation
Having a discussion or a conversation with someone especially about that topic you need inspiration for can really help bring the ideas and inspiration you need. I don’t know how many times I have been in a conversation with someone and had to pause to write down an idea or an inspirational thought I probably wouldn’t have had if I hadn’t had that conversation. Now, if you find that talking about the topic you need inspiration about is not helping, then maybe you need to relax and take your mind off what you need inspiration about and have a discussion and conversation about something else. Surprisingly, the most profound inspiration can come from a completely different conversation and discussion. It gives your mind a break from thinking about the inspiration you are looking for, for it to simply finally come to you. Similar to the idea of letting go and surrendering what you are manifesting – when you let go of the pressure, believe, and have faith - the inspiration will come.
7. Research
Reading, watching and listening to inspirational things, especially about the topic you want inspiration for can help a lot. Whenever I am stuck for ideas, I either watch something to inspire me, or research the topic I need inspiration about. For example, in order to help me get some inspiration for my blog today, I read about different ways others have got inspired to help get my inspirational juices running - which it did. A lot of ideas and inspiration can come up once you start immersing yourself with the topic you need inspiration about no matter what it is. Another example would be if you need inspiration to draw or paint something in particular - then research and identify how others have done it, look for examples, or even research the background and symbolism about what you want to draw or paint. Research can be a powerful inspirational tool! Taking the time to learn more about what you want to be inspired by and allowing your knowledge to expand on the topic you need inspiration about can automatically help gain a lot more inspiration.
8. Experiences
There are two types of experiences that can help when it comes to getting the inspiration you desire. The first is your past experiences and identifying what you have learnt from them that could help with the inspiration you need now. The second is creating a new experience, whether that be creating new experiences to let go and surrender to help gain a new perspective and gain the inspiration you desire, or create new experiences that are based on the topic you desire inspiration for. For example, if you are uninspired to cook, then create a new experience and go to a cooking class, or if you are uninspired by a certain topic than try doing a course on that topic or find some activity that could actually help you have fun. Learn about the topic that you want inspiration about!
9. Change your environment
Changing your environment can be very effective, sometimes simply moving to a different chair or a different room can help. You can even change what location you are in. For example, if you are home then venture out to a coffee shop. Think about what would be ideal for you, what environment would be the best for you and that you would excel in. Even if you don’t want to research or focus on the topic you need inspiration for, going for a walk in the park or on the beach can help to put you back in your body. Be present, clear your mind, shift the environment you were in, move the stuck energy and your feeling of being uninspired as it will help to create new energy and feel inspired. Cleansing your environment and energy can also help create space for new inspirational energy to come in as well.
10. Be present!
Take time to be more present and in your body, similar to what I was saying in my last point when I was talking about meditation. Being present and in your body can really help inspire you. For example, like I have said previously, going for a walk, exercising, dancing, or even having a shower can help you be in the present moment. The amount of people I have heard that have gotten inspiration when in the shower is quite amazing because it is a time away from technology where you can be present and in your body, away from distractions. You can even just be present and become aware of your environment, your body and your senses. This can help you let go of the clutter in your mind and simply focus on the present moment where there is more space for information to come in and inspire you. You can try any of these methods and they can help you become a little more inspired.
There are so many ways to get inspired and I have seen many ways online to do this however, all of the ones I have mentioned in this blog really work and have been tried, tested, and tested again. The main thing with all these methods I have suggested is not to force the inspiration to come, instead be open and receptive to the inspiration that wants to come your way. Give yourself permission to be inspired and be grateful in advance for all the inspiration that is already coming your way!
